I’m surprised that you didn’t bring up the poem Miscegenation, which has the poet’s faehtr talking to her about her Jesus year when she turns 33. Here again is another comparison between Trethewey and Christ, and, as you say, it might seem a bit shocking to see the comparison at first. I wonder if there are other reasons for the comparison One also wonders if the professor is sometimes aware of how he chooses to order these texts
